Now I'm a Big Important Library Proctor!

That's right. After spending all my free time in the library during all of my time at Exeter, I was finally chosen for the job that actually requires such selfless dorkhood: being a library proctor.

Library Proctors are very important people. We meet for an hour every Monday to talk about Library Proctor things. We have signs on our study carrels that say we are Library Proctors. How much more important could you be?

No, really--there's a proctor on duty in the library each night, and we make sure that the other kids (mostly day students) who hang out near our carrels (yes, other people hang out in the library, too!) aren't being loud, or destructive, or (gasp!) eating in the library. (Food attracts critters; critters eat books; libraries without books don't need Big Important Library Proctors.) We also assign carrels at the beginning of the year to the people who have signed up for them, and we're automatic members of the Day Student Committee, which plans events like the Day Student Brunch (fall) and the Day Student Cookout (spring).

I think this year Gloria and I will also have to take it upon ourselves to initiate a Day Student shoutout campaign for Assembly. I mean, people go up there and say "I'm a new lower in Wentworth" and they get this whole Went-WORTH thing, and we go up and say "I'm a four-year senior Day Student" and we get this pitiful little yeah, day students... from the prep section. So something needs to be done about that, don't you think? I think so.
